Better than before
“The best is yet to be.”
You can’t continue to do the same as you have been doing and expect better results.
That is why this time, I will be better.
I recently spent a week away for a work training event. That week made me lose inspiration, focus, and motivation. I came back from that week feeling exhausted and uninspired.
This week, I am at the same type of event. But this time I will be better.
I have made sure to mentally prepare myself for this week. I have made sure to stay disciplined and focus on what I actually want to do. I have better prepared myself to succeed.
WHY?
What is my reasoning?
AVOIDANCE.
This is not a pursuit of what I want. This is avoidance of what I don’t what.
Obviously, what I want is not strong enough to keep me focused otherwise the last time I would’ve been more successful. But what is strong enough, is that feeling I felt after failing last time.
Feeling what I don’t want was enough to make me change.
It was enough for me to say “this time I WILL be better.”
That is how life is sometimes.
You tell yourself you want something bad enough but then you start making excuses. You start taking it easy. You say “I can do that tomorrow” or “I don’t have time today.” Then eventually, those phrases start catching up to you. Then you experience what you don’t want.
IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL YOUR EXCUSES CATCH UP TO YOU.
If you continue to take it easy, life eventually gets hard.
It can only be 1 of 2 ways:
Either it’s easy now and hard later,
Or it’s hard now and easy later.
You can’t make life easy now and expect it to be easy later.
That’s just not how it works.
That’s the thing that scares me. That’s what helps me break out of bad habits when I fall into them. I realize that if I continue the bad habits that I am doing, it will eventually come back to bite me.
Some people have not experienced the bad yet, so they just continue going with their bad habits.
But they will soon realize that if things don’t change, it WILL get harder.
Everyone likes to feel the success but sometimes the feeling of success is not enough to keep them in line, so they must feel the pain.
That is exactly why I live the way I do.
I have felt the pain that has come about because I am living laxed, and I will do whatever I can to avoid it.
I will be better than before.

On a side note, I have considered making a longer, weekly newsletter rather than daily blogs. This newsletter would be a more thought-out, focused, and valuable form of content. It would take all of my thoughts from the week and funnel them into one general idea.
My daily blogs would become more of a short form piece of content that is more like a daily journal. The thoughts would be more unfiltered and general.
If you like this idea or have other suggestions, I would love to hear what you think.
