Self trial

“It is not until you stop trying to prove yourself to others, that you can finally prove something to yourself.”

The accomplishment is greater when you achieve something you want rather than achieving what others want for you.

Every waking minute of the day, your mind is being filled with outside influences telling you what you should and shouldn't do. When there are so many influences telling you what you want, HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO?

I used to do exactly what others asked of me all the time. I thought that by giving other people what they wanted out of me, I would be more fulfilled.

I WAS SO WRONG.

I finally figured out that pleasing others only made me feel more lost. It made me lose complete direction. I didn’t know where I was going at all.

I can’t say I know where I am going now, because then I’d be lying. But I can tell you that I know where I am not going. I know what I don’t want, and the more I figure out what I don’t want, the clearer the image of what I do want becomes.

I am starting to realize the importance of doing the opposite of what others do.

Now when people want me to zig, I zag.

When faced with the decision of being comfortable or facing fear I will ask myself:

WHAT WOULD AN AVERAGE PERSON DO?

It is always the comfortable thing. Doing the thing that brings you comfort will never make you better. It will only make you just like everyone else. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be like everyone else, so I choose fear.

It scares the hell out of me when I do the exact opposite of what people tell me to. But I know by facing that fear, I am knocking down mental barriers. I am testing my mind to see how much I can really do.

I enjoy proving to myself that I can overcome my fears because then those fears no longer become fears.

It is scary to go against the crowd. When everyone is doing something you feel like they all know something. You feel like they know the answer and that’s why they do what they do. But in reality, they’re just like you and I,

A LONELY PERSON TRYING TO FIND THEIR WAY IN THE GAME OF LIFE.

Nobody has the answers. Things might seem like the right things to do because they are socially accepted, but there is no right and wrong in life. There is only what’s right or wrong for you.

Even finding what is right or wrong for you is difficult because you never really find out what is right or wrong.

I don’t always want to be right because if I am right all the time, I will never learn if I’m not right.

Everything continues to be, until it isn’t.

You can’t just let people make your decisions for you and expect to be able to tell the difference between right and wrong. You have to find out for yourself. You will think that everything you’re told to do is the right thing to do unless you do it differently.

Test yourself more.

Put yourself in uncomfortable situations and see if you can get out.

Hint: most of the time you can.

You just fear that you won’t, and that’s what holds you back:

THE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.

I only know one thing in this life, and that is that I know nothing.

Confucius said it best.

And that is why I will continue to test myself so I can find out more.
